Would you love to become a better, healthier version of yourself? Me too. Feel stressed out way too much and just want to find healthy ways to take care of yourself? Me too. Looks like we have a lot in common and I bet there is even more. Ok, so I am not an “expert” when it comes to healthy living. I don’t currently hold any certificates or licenses that claim I know everything about anything. But I am passionate about being healthy and being around for my kids for a long, long time! I think that makes it easier to relate to any one that might stumble across my blog.
By day (10 months a year) I am a school counselor in a poor, rural area in Tennessee. I deal with some tough stuff with my students on a daily basis. It has made me realize that regardless how messy and tough life can get, it is so beautiful when people come together to help each other. That’s all the more reason to take care of your self in every way you can, whether that’s through diet, exercise, mediation or whatever works for you. When you take care of yourself, you can take care of others.
I follow a Primal/Paleo diet. My goal is 80/20. Some times it’s 100% but other times it’s more like 20/80. Imperfect – that’s me! I grew up as a competitive swimmer, have a background in teaching group exercise classes, and I have thoroughly enjoyed competing in triathlons in a not so distant past life. For now I pretty much stick to running and yoga which will be a huge part of this blog. I meditate whenever I can get enough quiet in my house and that has been a great tool to use and I can’t wait to see where it takes me as I continue to grow in my practice.
